When do I need an instrument proficiency check?

FAA: if instrument currency lapses beyond the 6+6 month grace period in FAR 61.57(d), an IPC is required before exercising IFR privileges. TC and EASA have similar revalidation/proficiency requirements when IFR recency is not maintained — check CAR 401.05 and FCL.740/745 for your authority.
