What is the FAA passenger-carrying currency requirement?

To carry passengers under FAR 61.57(a), a pilot must have made 3 takeoffs and 3 landings within the preceding 90 days in an aircraft of the same category, class, and (if a type rating is required) type. In tailwheel aircraft the landings must be to a full stop.
