When do I need a high-performance airplane endorsement?

FAR 61.31(f) requires ground and flight training in an airplane with more than 200 horsepower (or a turbojet/turbo-prop if applicable) before acting as PIC, unless the endorsement was issued before 1997 for certain aircraft.
